2007-08 NYSFAAA Development Committee:

• During a recent conference call with Heather McDonnell and Tom Dalton, it was suggested to add 2 members of the Next Generation Committee to this Development Committee. I will research this with the chairs of that committee and make phone calls to suggested participants.

• Replaced Janet McGrath (outgoing Region 1 Exec Council rep) with Lynn Chilson. Lynn agreed to join this committee.

• Need a representative from downstate Exec Council to replace Sheryl (outgoing Region 7 Exec Council rep). Need to ask Maria or Nancy (incoming Regions 6 and 7 Exec Council reps) if one of them would like to replace Sheryl.

• At the NASFAA Conference in July, Dave Canaski and/or I talked with most of the 0607 vendor sponsors at their booths regarding the new 0708 policies for support. Tried to encourage support for 0708 in our 3 new categories, which are not education loan-related activities: training, outreach and scholarship.

• On August 3^rd, I mailed a letter to the 0607 vendor sponsors to follow up with our NASFAA discussions. Thanked them for their 0607 support (included the dollar amount sponsored last year in 0607) and provided an explanatory letter outlining the new 0708 development/support campaign (see attached).

• On August 15^th, the online sponsorship form went live after I tested the site 3 times with edits. I sent an email to the NYSFAAA listserv to inform members that this form was available. Training, outreach and scholarship are the 3 categories available to sponsors. In addition, sponsors may choose “Flexible” if they would like NYSFAAA Exec Council to choose the fund destination in our budget/Treasury.

• As of September 10^th, our current status of support for 0708 is $30,050. This does not include sponsorship for the 2007 NYSFAAA Conference, as NYSFAAA is not planning, organizing or managing funds related to the exhibitor area at this conference. This support figure is rather low compared to 0607, although this was expected. However, some vendors have commented that they are still in the process of determining if they have support available to NYSFAAA this year for these 3 categories of assistance. I will send out another email to the NYSFAAA listserv.
