| Minutes/Report: DATE: June 15, 2005 - Report to Executive Council LOCATION: Turning Stone, Verona ATTENDEES: GUEST(S): MINUTES STATUS: EARLY AWARENESS COMMITTEE Report to Executive Council , June 15, 2005 PROJECT (2004/2005): BOOKMARKS FOR PUBLIC LIBRARIES PRINTED : 52,500 Bookmarks PLACEMENT : Sent letters to 34 libraries throughout the state Have placed 48,000 bookmarks at 201 Libraries in the following Syracuse, 31 sites Rochester, 1 site Albany, 1 site Lackawanna, 1 site Binghamton, 1 site Glen Cove, 1 site Manhattan/Bronx/ Staten Island: 81 sites Southern Tier , 48 sites Auburn, 1 site Utica, 1 site Deer Park, 1 site Broome County, 1 site Clinton-Essex- Franklin, 31 sites PROJECTS 2005: Conference calls on 3/2 and 5/5: wristbands and brochure Wristband : Finalized the wristband giveaway. Order placed for 1000 ; colors are blue and gold, debossed with “ I’m going to college ” and our website, nysfaaa.org . Will give out at the August State Fair and other functions. Costs submitted in the current fiscal year budget. Brochure: Updating the “It’s Sooner Than You Think” brochure. Second draft currently being reviewed by committee. Cost will be submitted for the next fiscal year. Anticipate printing of brochure in July or early August. Distribution: State Fair and School Districts Contacted the 16 Regional Directors of the PTA via letter or e-mail the week of 4/18 soliciting their assistance in distributing brochures at functions. No responses yet. This may be due to the timing of the year. I will follow-up with the State President of the association for interest in project. Tentative back-up plan: contact school districts directly for their participation. NASFAA entry: As was suggested at the last Executive Council meeting, the ‘Bookmark Project’ was submitted on 2/10 for consideration for the 2005 NASFAA State Award. Accompanying the submission were the project materials - copy of the bookmark, print out of our Early Awareness web page, sample letter to the libraries, and some responses from the libraries.
