COUNCIL REGIONAL REPORT
SEPTEMBER
14 & 15, 2006
Region VII
leadership met on September 6 to plan for the 2006-07 year's activities.
Our first meeting of the year will be at Suffolk County Community College
(SCCC) Grant Campus on Friday, October 13th. Our tentative agenda may be
either Best Practices for Student Employment or a topic centered on the
Financial Aid Office itself. Office set-up, physical layout - what's good, what's not so good, what
we'd like to see in an ideal world
Work assignment and structure
- providing customer service balanced with getting the work done
How incoming calls are handled
How job assignments are made -
who handles the "counter" - appointments vs. walk-ins
How we manage staff to keep on
task
The annual High School Counselor Workshop will be held on Wednesday,
November 15th at SUNY Farmingdale.
Our November meeting will be held on Friday the 17th.
Our December holiday meeting is tentatively scheduled
for Friday, December 8th.
Jim Briggs will return to
Plans for March - We are hoping to
host a Financial Aid 101 full day session intended for college personnel
(Admissions, EOP, HEOP, Cashiers, Bursars, Counseling and Academic Advisors,
Registrars) who want a better understanding of the financial aid process.
