Regional Representative Report to Region 3

ć Higher Education Day at the New York State Fair. We have 18
paying tables with a cost of $611 per table. We will be giving away
early awareness wrist bracelets and early awareness brochures. We
should have the wall charts and wrappers also.
ƒá There will be an ¡§everyone¡¨ email coming out after NASFAA
to remind you to renew your NYSFAAA membership. It ends on June
31st. Remember to sign up for both NYSF-L and your regional list
serve. It is my understanding that you will be automatically signed
up to NYSF-L but that you have to specifically sign up for the
Region 3 list serve. Earl is working to be able to get a regional
list for us.
ć Any regional committee that would like to use the i-link
audio conferencing service may. If you are on a committee and would
like to avail yourself of this technology please contact Sam Veeder.
ƒá Letterhead¡XCarolyn asked the Exec Council reps¡¦ to have the
regional Chair find out who might need Leterhead/envelopes and
forward the amount the Region needs to Carolyn by July 1st. Please
let Nancy know what you think your needs will be for the upcoming
year.
ć Mentor Committee-Bill Mack has requested and the Council
has approved and budgeted money to waive a conference fee for one
novice from each region to attend the annual NYSFAAA Conference.
ć 2006 Conference dates changed to Monday, Nov 6 through
Thursday Nov.11, 2006
ć Novice training had 117 participants. It is believed the
the HESC Training grants had a lot to do with the turnout.
ć I have the 6th Draft of the Reauthorization Position
Paper. Thanks to Irv and Bill Cheetham for their input. The plan is
to present in July 20-21st in Washington.
ć Recent Statewide Audit has raised some issues/concerns. We
need to behave under 501 C-3 regulations. We are seeking an outside
attorney to review our practices. Our activities that we spend
money on must be in line with our association¡¦s mission. As a
result of these concerns, auditor will be randomly choosing one or
two regions annually to have a ¡§thorough¡¨ audit.
