Executive Council Report:

Sharon mentioned the there was no “new” business since council had not met since our last meeting.  Her notes from the December council meeting can be found in the “Regional News” section under “Region 3 Notes/Report”.  She did bring up one topic that was not covered in this report- the issue regarding credit card use to pay for conferences fees.  NYSFAAA wants to charge a $5 fee to use the credit card.  Those in attendance commented that if the cost of business increases, then the fee should increase.  Another thought was to try for one year and see if an increase is needed. Sharon will bring our feedback to council.

Treasury Report:

Abbey reported that our revenue check should be received shortly. Current balance is $748.33

State Update:

Gerry handed out the up-dates; spoke briefly about the Tap survey and the training grant deadline of 1/28/06.

Regional Business:

CAAN- Nancy reported in absence of the CAAN chairs:

Channel 9 events was 1/12/06 was a great event.  Phones were busy the entire evening; volunteers from Syracuse University, Onondaga Community College, Cayuga Community College, and SUNY Upstate Medical. Judi Miladin was also interviewed during the broadcast. Also a member from the Colgate staff was interviewed by another local station during their noon hour broadcast.  Application workshops were held in Syracuse and Utica. Full report will be given at the February meeting.

Program Committee: Kathy Flaherty

Topics are set with the exception of the May meeting. Will be finalizing soon.

June meeting: Date is set for June 23. Sean View will check on various sites in the Geneva area. Michael Woody will contact Steve Morgan and report to Kathy. Once we receive pricing we will also request from council if funding is needed for this event.

Nancy will send an updated invitation to the chairs of Regions 1 & 2 to have their members join us when the speaker is confirmed.

New Business:

Nancy asked the group if it was agreeable to set the 2006/07 meeting dates at the May meeting versus waiting until our first fall meeting. The group agreed.

This will also allow the Program committee to begin planning during the summer and set topics for the upcoming year.

Training:

Vince Scalise presented “Choosing a Preferred Lender” in conjunction with a panel discussion. Panel included Scott Lewis, Abbey Linsner and Nancy Teodecki. Good discussion and great interaction amongst the group.
