Region3 Report to NYSFAAA Executive Council
January 30, 2006
(Sharon was unable to attend. Nancy Teodecki reported to council)

December meeting: over 30 individuals braved the weather and
attended our Meeting and Holiday Luncheon on 12/16. Training topic
was ‘Identity Theft’ presented by Jeff Hanson of the ACCESS Group.
Excellent session and highly recommended if you are looking to
offer this topic in the future.

January meeting: very well attended for the training
topic ‘Selecting a Preferred Lender’.
Great interaction between lender and school representatives as to
what schools expect from their lending partners and lenders
responses to school concerns.

CAAN Activities-
Application workshops held in Syracuse and Utica
Colgate representative interviewed by a local new station during
their Noon hour broadcast
Paying for College broadcast during a local new stations 1 ½ hour
broadcast along with phone bank. Over 70 calls were answered during
this time by 5 NYSFAAA members from Cayuga Community College,
Onondaga Community College,
Syracuse University, & SUNY Upstate Medical University. Judi
Miladin was also interviewed during this broadcast.

Intermediate Workshop:
Site for workshop for regions 1,2,3 has been secured- Brockport.
Date to be announced.

Conference Registration issue:
Discussed at our January meeting, Region 3 members feel that the
cost should be raised
due to offering credit card use. If costs are not being met, then
conference fee should be raised as the ‘cost of doing business’.

HESC issue:
A member asked HESC to respond to the issue that it seems to be
taking an extremely long time for FAFSA link to TAP on the Web to
show up, and that corrections do not seem to be going through as
quick as they should, or at all when made by administrators on the
web.

Request for funds:
Region3 has contracted with Steve Morgan for a 2 hour session at
our June meeting to be held in Geneva. We are also inviting members
of Regions 1 & 2. Fee was negotiated. Since Region3 does not
solicit funds from lenders, we request $2000 for the speaker’s fee
and travel expenses.
