| Notes/Report: DATE: February 10, 2006 - Exec Council report to Regional meeting 2/10/06 Executive Council Meeting report to Region3 Intermediate Workshop update. Regions 1,2 and 3 will hold an Intermediate Workshop at SUNYBrockport on March 17, 2006. It will be located in Cooper Hall. More details will be coming next week. Speakers/presenters are currently be finalized. Sharon Karwowski was not able to attend so Nancy will give the report from Executive Council meeting in Albany NYSFAAA Executive Council met at the Holiday Inn in Albany on January 29 and 30 with Legislative visits on January 31. Judi announced that the Region 1 Council Representative has left financial aid and that region nominated Janet MGrath to replace Rachel Barker. Executive Council voted to accept Janet. Treasurer’s Report Credit card system ready to go. Novice will be the first workshop to accept cards. Some revenue checks have been held up for some regions since the Treasurer has not received those region’s quarterly report. Membership: record number of members :1304 Professional Development: Maria Barlaam was not able to attend our meetings. Heather McDonnell gave a brief report. Tax workshops are scheduled for Buffalo, Albany, NYC and reservations will be taken via the NYSFAAA Website. Planning is moving ahead with the Immediate Workshops. President’s Report: Committee for College Goal Sunday is underway. Wayne Harwood will be the State Chair for this committee. Tom Wise from Colgate is the Region3 representative. The committee will work in conjunction with HESC’s Ken Storms to carry out the approved ‘exploratory’ grant. Committee of Past Conference’s Facilities Chairs was created to set minimum hotel specs for future conferences. Chaired by Bruce Wooley; members are Lisa Simpson and Janet Grey. Changes in State Chairs: Kathy Flaherty from Oswego has accepted the Chair position for the Awards Committee. Earl Trethway has stepped down as Communications Chair. Katrina DelGrosso has accepted the Development Committee, Chair position. Novice: Lisa Simpson Will be held in Cobleskill. Attendance maximum will be 120. Early Awareness: Nancy Teodecki Working on the next project- target is Middle School Guidance Counselors. Committee is developing materials. Discussion on scheduling workshops for these counselors; possible scenario is to include these counselors in the HS counselor workshops in the Fall, and have break-out sessions for the middle school counselors. Pat Johnson, state chair of HS Guidance Committee invited Nancy to the first planning meeting to be held in March & discuss this option. POSTED BY: Sharon Karwowski |
