Region 3 Regional Notes/Report

Notes/Report:

Executive Council Report
Region 3
March 16, 2007

1.I was unable to attend the last Executive Council meeting held in
Albany. Mark Humbert from SUNY Oswego graciously accepted my
request to represent Region 3.

2.Joan Warren, 1st Vice President for Membership has resigned. In
her resignation she indicated a job promotion with additional
reasonability has forced her to reevaluate her NYSFAAA commitment.
Pursuant with the bylaws her replacement must come from the elected
members of the current Executive Council. Brenda Wright has stepped
forward and Executive Council has voted her in as 1st Vice
President.

3.There was a request made at Executive Council for each region to
put forward a minimum of two names for interested parties to join
in the Long Range Planning Committee. The names and a brief resume
needed to be submitted to Judi. I sent an email to the Region 3
list serve and asked if there were any volunteers. Two people
followed up on that email and sent me their resumes. I have
submitted Gina Soliz and Debra Eddy for consideration on the
committee. It is my understanding that one person from each region
will be selected with every effort being made to have as diverse a
group as possible.

4.Per a request from Ideta, the regional officers will be reviewing
the Region 3 part of the website to see what can be moved to
archives and what needs to be cleaned up.

5.SUNYFAP is looking for joint ventures. Leadership seems to be a
constant topic that keeps coming up. Sean View can speak to a
statewide event we are currently working on.

6.The approved NYSFAAA Mission Statement is: "NYSFAAA is a
charitable, volunteer association of financial aid professionals
advocating for, and promoting equal access to post secondary
education for all students. NYSFAAA offers education, professional
development, and networking opportunities for its members and for
colleagues in related education, business, and governmental
profession."

7.Establishment of a Diversity Committee language was sent to
Executive Council prior to the meeting. The statewide minutes will
reflect the discussion and vote.

8.Training was provided for council members that wanted to visit
their legislators. A position paper was provided. Nancy will have
copies of the position paper available at the regional meeting.

9.The date of March 29th has been set for the High School Guidance
Workshop planning meeting.

Respectfully submitted:
