Before the Business
Meeting started, the hotel gave the group a mini-tour of the facilities. We
were shown the Grand Ballroom and 3 different size meeting rooms. Everyone
agreed that the facilities were accommodating and many remembered the conference
held there a few years ago. A delicious and appealing lunch was served during
the meeting and there were no complaints.
WELCOME: Nancy
Teodecki
Nancy Teodecki,
Chair, opened the meeting at 11:20 and thanked everyone for making the effort
to travel to Buffalo
to see the conference hotel.
EXEC COUNCIL UPDATE - Sharon Karwowski
The minutes have
been posted to the region website. Some of the highlights:
- They passed the budget after going line
by line and reducing everything because they are unsure of what next
year’s revenue will be. If they have to use the reserve it is available.
- The membership dues have increased for
2007-2008 to $50.00 for the primary region and an additional $20.00 for
membership in another region. Retiree’s dues will stay the same.
- The full conference fee has increased to
$300.00.
- The State Fair breaks even so was not
impacted by the budget this year but may change for next yuear.
- Gina Soliz will take over as EXEC Council Rep
at the conference in October.
- Region
3’s new officers will officially start in September
- Judi
Miladin sent out an e-mail asking for nominations for NYSFAA President
elect.
- Jen
Dwyer is replacing Mike Williams at HESC.
Let Sharon
know if you have any ideas or concerns she can take Exec Council on
September 10th and 11th.
TREASURY REPORT –
Abbey Linsner
The current balance
is $2,192.70. She pre-paid for the bus trip. The region is paying for the lunch
today but will be reimbursed by the conference committee.
REPORT FROM THE
CHAIR– Nancy Teodecki
- Service Award nomination request will be
going out.
- There will not be a conference waiver this
year because of the budget but there is a professional development
scholarship given by Region 3.
Nancy then thanked the members for allowing her to
serve as chair and the support she received. She then passed the gavel to Sean
View who thanked the members for this opportunity to serve.
CONFERENCE 2008 –
John View
John passed out a
sample calendar for the conference and a list of committees with chairs and
members. You can still sign up to help – contact John at jeview@esf.edu or Bill Cheetham at cheethwc@lemoyne.edu.
- The Adam’s
Mark hotel has been sold but the new owners will honor our contract.
Hopefully, their new name will be in place by this year’s conference so we
can use it in our handouts. They will be doing some renovations.
- The
theme of the conference will be “NYSFAAA 40 - a celebration of education”.
- It was voted that the “tickler” to be
handed out at this year’s conference will be a leather bookmark. Kathleen
Armstrong is going to look into procuring them.
- The conference logo will be a
mortarboard on the head of the man in the NYSFAA insignia.
- Suggestions for the conference committee
attire to be worn the last day of the NYC conference are needed.
- Committee meetings will be held before
or after the regular monthly meetings.
- Tentative committee budgets should be
submitted by the September meeting.
Sean asked for
volunteers to host the monthly meeting this coming year. The dates were decided
at the May meeting and are posted on the website. The next Region 3 meeting
will be September 28th, hosted by Oswego.
Respectively
