WELCOME: Sean View

Chair, Sean View, started the meeting at 10:15. Marcelle Tyburski, Director of Financial Aid at Colgate University, spoke on the history of the campus and the Alana Cultural Center.

Introductions were made around the room.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL REPORT: Gina Soliz

·        The Exec Council meeting was held December 13 and 14 in Buffalo. Gina has posted the minutes to the regional area of the NYSFAAA website. If you have not already done so, please visit the website as she has posted a very thorough and informative synopsis of the meeting.

·        The NYSFAA website has not been revamped yet. It needs more work than previously thought so they are waiting to see what the most cost effective way to go about it would be. A suggestion was made to link up with the NASFAA site but that may cost more than having our own separate site.

·        The membership brochure is being revised. Please look at it on the website and send any comments or suggestions to Gina.

·        The next Exec Council meeting will be February 7 & 8. Please contact Gina if you have any issues or concerns you want her to bring to Council at the next meeting. Anyone can attend Council meetings and the June 18-20 meeting may be held at the Craftsman Inn in Fayetteville if you are thinking of attending.

TREASURER REPORT: Pat Johnson

·        The current balance is $112.56 with a $400 check outstanding to the Scholarship fund. There are no outstanding bills to be paid.

·        We have not received our June revenue sharing and are also due one in January.

STATE UPDATE: Dawn Langdon

·        The 2008-2009 college Data Survey is now available on the Web. The survey is used to collect school’s information for the TAP and APTS and scholarship processing. Since this data will be used to process students’ 2008-09 stated aid, the information must be updated by March 31, 2008 by the TAP Certifying Officer at the school.

·        Please remember to notify HESC when staff are no longer authorized to access your college or student data on HESC Web.

COLLEGE GOAL SUNDAY - Sonya Griggs

·        February 10, 2008 with a snow date set for February 17th.

·        Syracuse has 15 volunteers including 8 counselors but will take more. Flyers have been mailed to command centers and libraries and there will be 52 60-second commercial spots on local radio stations created by an Ithaca student. Fowler High School has 70 computers available.

CONFERENCE 2008: John View

·        The hotel has been sold but any name change will take over a year to incorporate so we can use the Adams Mark in our publications.

·        We will have use of the total hotel so hopefully won’t have to use an overflow hotel.

·        The Program Committee has all the sessions in place.

·        Jeff Baker or his representative will be coming from DC.

·        The committee is trying to keep the conference cost down – projections are $325 - $335 including meal.

·        Plans are ahead of schedule and another meeting is planned for February 29th.

The business meeting adjourned at 11:20. After a short break, Charlie Boland and Darcie Stephens presented a very informative powerpoint on “Beyond Prime and LIBOR”.

Respectfully submitted,

Bonnie Rooker
