Notes/Report: DATE: January 18, 2006 - Region V Meetings for Spring 2006 February 16th: Manhattanville: Region V Meeting Topic: Financial Literacy Training: We are having the Westchester Housing Fund Inc. come back after a wonderful session in the Fall, to train us in Financial Literacy so we can than bring this training to the rest of the Regions in NYSFAAA. As a Region we cam lead the others so that this important information is available to help our students and ourselves. March 17th: Region V Meeting Topic: Mentoring With new members coming into the region every year, we are trying to bring back mentoring into the Region to help out new members as they learn the ropes but also to help keep people in our field and show them how rewarding it can be. March 31st: Region IV & V Intermediate Training Workshop, Albany, NY We are having a workshop to assist those who have gone through Novice but are looking for additional training on the intermediate level, where sometimes training is scarce. We have a program that will contain presentations on FERPA, How to do a High School Night Financial Aid Presentation, and Communication Styles: How you can Make yours work for you. More information will follow. April 21st: Region V Meeting Topic: Who Moved my Cheese A little more of a relaxing topic to help us deal with the stress of this time of year and life changes. June 30th: Region V End of the Year Meeting: Our year-end meeting in June is just around the corner. Previous year-end activities included a luncheon cruise on the Hudson and winery tours. We are very interested in hearing from the membership regarding your choice of a year-end activity. Please let us know of your ideas by the March 17th meeting to allow for sufficient planning time.
