Title:               Borrower Benefits in a Changing Environment

Presenter:                   Jennifer C. Trauman

            Account Executive

            Access Group

Description:

While the basic terms of federal student loans are established by statute and regulation, lenders historically have created an array of borrower benefits that can reduce the cost of these loans for eligible borrowers. These benefits have served to differentiate competing lenders in the FFELP marketplace. Recent passage of the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007 (H.R. 2669), however, likely will lead to changes in what benefits are offered in the future. During this interactive session we will look not only at the history of borrower benefits but also speculate on how they may change moving forward.

Toy Drive

As in the past several years, Region 5 is sponsoring a holiday toy drive to benefit the children at Help/Bronx Crotona. This is a family shelter. Members have been extremely generous in the past, and we hope you will participate again. If you are so inclined, please bring one or more new, unwrapped toys for the shelter’s children. Gifts for babies through teens are welcome.

The team at Sarah Lawrence College will wrap, label and deliver the gifts on behalf of NYSFAAA Region 5.
