Region VI Report to Executive Council – June 2007

 

Next regional meeting scheduled for June 22, 2007 at NYIT Manhattan Campus.

Topics:

1. School Panel Discussion on Preferred Lender Lists – Best Practices.

2. Leadership training – Lorraine Capuano, of The Organization Effectiveness Group, LLC

The program is a very interactive. Participants get a personal assessment of their

“Coaching skills on 5 key Coaching Competencies”, followed by practical skill building.

3. Getting involved in NYSFAAA.

 

Elections

Current officers running again, except for Executive Council Representative and we have at least two nominations for that position.

 

Tri-Regional- May 4 at NYU

137 people pre-registered. Estimated attendance 130

Several updates, i.e. state and NYSFAAA.

 

Used the Region VI training survey to guide the selection of topics.  Respondents were asked about there interest in :

Technology - 63% of requested web technology.

Office procedures – the most popular at 17.8% was Audit Findings.

 

42 people returned evaluations.

The averages, on a 1 - 5 scale, 5 was the best rating, are:

Writing for the Web: 4.06

Audit Findings: 4.35

Financial Literacy: 4.26

Comments showed people were attracted by different topics.

 

March 29 regional meeting - Adelphi University Manhattan Center.

In excess of 30 registrants.  Timing was not the best but was limited by the space availability.

Planning a support staff workshop for Fall in early October.
