REGION VII REPORT

Executive Council Meeting

January 30, 2006

Region VII held a professional training meeting on Friday, January 13 at the Bank of America in Farmingdale, Long Island. An outside trainer with a broad client base conducted a half-day seminar on “Powerful Oral Presentations”. Handouts of this presentation are available to member of Exec Council.

There were 21 participants in the training with approximately 50% from the vendor membership. We had two brand new members attend and their feedback was very positive and they indicated that they would be interested in future meetings.

The topic appealed to both members and vendors in the region and was very well received. This trainer may be asked to present later this spring at another regional meeting.

The region is in the process of planning its February 17 meeting which will be a “Best Practices” panel discussion of zero/low income case studies. In this way we are hoping to mentor the newer financial aid people and to cultivate a relationship with them to increase school attendance at regional meetings.

In closing I would like to note that the Region VII membership chair and our service award recipient, Veronica Grosch will be on maternity leave after our February meeting. She will return to us in September.
