Having Fun with Taxes 1 – What’s New and Verifying Non-filers
Thursday, September 24, 2020, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

This year’s first tax webinar will start with a look at changes to the tax code and tax forms implemented in 2019, and changes to verification, conflicting information, and any other tax related Department of Education regulation. We’ll then review the steps to complete the verification of non-filers. As part of that review, we’ll look at the first of the two tax concepts financial aid officers are required to be familiar with: whether a person is required to file a tax return.

Presenter:
Robert Weinerman, Director of Training
Iron Bridge Resources, LLC

This is Robert’s fifth year doing tax training webinars for NYSFAAA. Robert started his financial aid career in
1993 as a financial aid officer at MIT – where he quickly became the go-to guy for difficult to interpret tax
returns. After over a decade as an aid officer at MIT, Babson College, and a few other schools in the Boston area,
Robert left the aid office to counsel students and parents at College Coach. Over the last four years Robert has
worked exclusively as a trainer to the financial aid community, talking about the intersection of financial aid,
taxes, and need analysis.
